Yaron M. Tilles is a seasoned employment defense attorney with more than two decades of experience advising and representing California employers across a wide range of industries. He brings a rare blend of courtroom expertise and day-to-day compliance counseling to his practice—helping businesses navigate the state’s complex and often unforgiving employment law landscape with precision, strategy, and pragmatism.
As a Partner at Zaller Law Group, Yaron advises business owners, HR leaders, and in-house counsel on the full spectrum of employment law issues, including wage-and-hour compliance, employee classification, personnel policies, workplace investigations, leave management, accommodations, harassment and discrimination prevention, and discipline and termination procedures. He regularly conducts HR audits and policy reviews, drafts employee handbooks and workplace policies, and provides live and virtual training to managers and supervisors on legal compliance and best practices.
Yaron is also a highly experienced litigator, having defended employers in individual, multi-party, and class action matters involving employment claims including wage-and-hour violations (e.g., unpaid wages, meal/rest breaks, unreimbursed business expenses, waiting time penalties, non-compliant wage statements, etc.), wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and violations of the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). He has successfully represented clients in state and federal court, arbitration, and in proceedings before the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), OSHA, and the Employment Development Department (EDD).
Yaron has served as outside general counsel to clients in industries including hospitality, retail, transportation, logistics, real estate, construction, healthcare, and professional services. He is known for his ability to translate complex legal obligations into clear, actionable business guidance. His dual strength in litigation and preventative counseling enables him to help clients reduce risk before litigation arises and to defend them aggressively and cost-effectively when it does.
Prior to joining Zaller Law Group, Yaron was a partner at a boutique firm in Beverly Hills, where he led the employment and liability practice groups and co-managed the firm’s internal HR and compliance functions. Prior to that, Yaron spent a decade in the Los Angeles office of a national, AmLaw 200 firm, where he managed an active practice in the firm’s employment and civil litigation groups.
Yaron earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. from San Diego State University. He has been recognized on the Southern California Super Lawyers list from 2019 through 2025 and holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell for the highest level of professional excellence. He frequently serves as a speaker, trainer, and legal contributor on employment law topics.
